Meet Flynn Cooley

This is my first book by Flynn and I will definitely be reading more of this authors books. This thriller is very well written it flows very nicely. And held my attention. The characters are well developed. Lots of suspense and mystery involved. Our FMC who is Evelyn Hart and what exactly is her role in this murder mystery. She is a little to calm and in control for just being a flight attendant. Luke our MMC is ex-military and happens to be on a plane that a killer is leaving clues with and around his victims. And the killer’s game doesn’t end on this plane ride. Luke has been trying to put all the pieces together. Feeling the cold chill run down his spine when he comes to realize he is now somehow part of the killer’s game. Very excellent read. I enjoyed it very much. I’m looking forward to reading the next book.

This book picks up right at the end of the last book (Altitude of Shadows) where Luke was thrust into this mystery at 30,000 feet. Scholars who might know information about either history or ciphers are disappearing left and right but with a clue left for Luke to figure out where he should be heading. The people helping Luke with information may in fact be hindering him instead of helping or out for themselves. Some of the information left at each scene remind them of things they weren’t supposed to have seen in their past. Who or what is doing this and more importantly, why? This book is fast paced and weaves different timelines of history together and places. Fantastic!

WOW! What an edge of your seat thriller with so many threads to tie together. Once I began, I couldn’t put the book down! This book evoked books or movies like the Andromeda Strain or Coma. Laura Harrison is a nurse in the small-town hospital in Oakwood. While treating patients, she begins to see a pattern in the illnesses and deaths. There is a new tech company coming into the town and there is something going on called, “Project Renewal.” What exactly is that and are they using the town’s residents as guinea pigs? Laura enlists the help of her friend, Detective David Warren to figure out what is going on. They become entangled in conspiracies, secrets and danger from the highest level. Can they solve this problem and protect the town and their citizens or will the problem devour them to keep their project ongoing? The ending is good but also leaves you with a possible cliff hanger feeling. I can’t wait to see what will happen next.

Book was great. Original, with great characters and an ending that left me desperately wanting to know what happens next. Laura is an experienced nurse. David is a police detective who is extremely abrupt. He knows what he wants and how to get it. But what happens when you want the truth but can’t get it without opening your mind and heart? And what if that’s the scariest thing for Laura, the investigative nurse? And what if the truth only comes with more problems? Read this fast-paced novel to find out the answers to these questions and more!

Unique, thoughtful, unpredictable and intense!

Cipher of Bones, book 2 in the excellent Legacy Protocol series, is, amazingly, better than Altitude. The level of thought and insight into human behavior is amazing! Luke and Evelyn are both standout characters, serving as excellent foils for the other and the slight distrust between the two of them creates a great dynamic. The method by which information is passed along is also something fairly unique to this series. The unpredictability of the plot makes it far more engaging as well. The amount of thought and planning put into a book this short is highly uncommon, bordering on non-existent. The narrative quality is also beyond reproach. 5/5 stars, highly recommended for readers who enjoy thoughtful puzzles that will repeatedly find easy to surprise them will love this book. I can recommend this series highly for just about any audience!

A 5 star read, Mavbe Cooley’s best book so far

The Subversion: A Scintillating Thriller (Detective Lucas Smith Series Book 1), my fourth enjoyable read from author Flynn Cooley. I read a lot of books, 84 so far in 2025, something about this book grabbed me and I read it in one sitting. Maybe Cooley’s best book so far. “I received a Kindle copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.” The gift of this book did not affect my opinion of it. I look forward to reading more from this author with The Unseen Hand: Unseen Truths, Deadly Consequences (Detective Lucas Smith Series) next on my TBR list.

I loved this book! Diving more into the weeds than the first two books. I loved the twist and turns of the plot. Could not wait to see where the story went. Really keeps you on your toes!! Hunger for more!!  Well done!!

This book was impossible to put down until I finished it. There was so much going on but I had not figured out that the problem went so deep into the town itself until the very end. The main characters were very interesting to read about and it was a shame that Laura and Detective Warren paid the highest price with everything that was going on. I hope that down the road that maybe they will meet up again. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a fast moving mystery. I can’t wait to read the next installment of this series.
